On October 21, 2023, a working meeting was held at the Yeşilyurt Municipality Gedik Social Facilities, organized by Minister Bülent Tüfenkçi and Yeşilyurt Mayor Mehmet Çınar. The meeting was attended by Malatya Deputy Governor Abdulselam Bıçak, Minister Bülent Tüfenkçi, Malatya MPs İhsan Koca, İnanç Siraç Kara Ölmeztoprak, Yeşilyurt District Governor Kutsal Baytak, Yeşilyurt Mayor Mehmet Çınar, AK Party Provincial Chairman Namık Gören, İnönü University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Türkmen, Malatya Chamber of Architects President Yunus Emre Fidanel, Deputy Provincial Director of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Cengiz Başer, Yeşilyurt Assistance Association President Mehmet Zeki Akıncı, neighborhood muhtars, wise people from various scientific fields, and various civil society organizations.
The topics discussed and decisions made at the meeting were briefly as follows:
It was noted that the redevelopment processes for “Yeşilyurt and historical sites” are being monitored by our MPs in Ankara and other meetings, but patience is required.
It was stated that the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change will urgently prepare the comprehensive plans and projects for the on-site transformation of Çırmıhtı and Gündüzbey, taking into account the historical and cultural features of the region, as previously promised.
It was emphasized that jointly working to solve the problems of Malatya, including “Yeşilyurt and historical sites,” is both a historical and moral responsibility.
It was decided to establish a commission specifically for Yeşilyurt District to organize and manage the reconstruction and redevelopment processes post-earthquake effectively and efficiently with a "common mind."
This commission will include university members, scientists, muhtars, and NGO representatives and will meet periodically.
It was recommended to establish such a "common mind" commission within the province of Malatya.
It was highlighted that it is important to collect information from these commissions and various state institutions in one place and to provide periodic updates by authorized bodies, similar to the pandemic period, and a decision was made to recommend this approach.
